Bait and Tackle shops

This week’s mail included a copy of Bass Pro Shops “2012 Spring Angler” catalog, and I’m confident that similar epistles from Cabela’s, Gander Mountain and a host of smaller companies will arrive any day now.

With deer hunters complaining of poor results in 2011, preliminary statewide harvest totals have been much anticipated.

For weeks now I have talking about the striper fishing off the Virginia Beach shores and the size of the fish that they are catching up there. Every time I have tried to get there the timing has been off for one reason or the other.

Though many are likely thrilled to see a day in January with sunny skies and 50 degree weather, as was the case last Friday, there are some local business owners who dread the sight. Beat the bans on The Method Feeder - Get a Bait Bomb! The Method is not every angler's cup of tea, so to speak. Although I don't see any valid reason for condemning the tactic. It sems that some fishery owners don't like you catching too many fish.

With all the brown outside this winter, you might guess that ice fishing sales would be down.  A local bait shop owner says thanks to the lack of snow, business is much better this year.
